Steps to getting one of our puppies!

STEP 1-Application
Please take a moment to view our contracts page and take a look at our sales agreement and health guarantee. Familiarize yourself with the remainder of the information on our website. If you do not agree with or are unwilling to follow the contract then please move on. If you are happy to follow our contract then read on!
If you are interested in one of our puppies please fill out our application located on the Contact/Application Page of this website. After you have filled out our application we will get back to you as soon as we can. Please be aware that we will do a phone call with everyone after we received the application before you are put on the waitlist. If we currently have litters on the ground and/or have a full waitlist, we may take longer to respond than normal. Always feel free to reach out to us again if we have not responded within a reasonable amount of time. Please note that just because you have filled out an application, does not guarantee you a spot on our waitlist. We reserve the right to turn individuals away if we feel they will not make a good home for one of our puppies.

STEP 2-Waitlist
Very rarely, do we ever have any puppies currently available. Because of this, we take a waitlist and our puppies are offered to all our pre-approved waitlisters before being offered to the public.

If your application has been approved and we do not have any current available puppies, and you are serious about getting one of ours and willing to wait, you can get on our waitlist. *Please do not ask to get onto our waitlist if you are still puppy/breeder shopping and not serious or willing to wait for one of ours. We utilize our waitlist to plan litters and gauge interest, so it is important to us to reserve these spots only for those that are serious and willing to wait for one of our puppies so we have an accurate idea. Because we have anywhere from 8-12 puppies on average born each litter, this waitlist can move fairly quick. We do charge a $100 fee to get on our waitlist and this amount does go towards your full purchase price. The purpose of this fee is to show commitment so we are only spending our time and attention on those seriously interested.
Our waitlist is not separated by gender, litter, color interest, etc. It is one main list that we will go down in order of when each individual's application was approved each litter to see if anyone is interested in any puppies that were born. Additionally, in the rare event that we have any puppies come available before going home or have any puppies come back to us, they will first be offered to those on our waitlist before the public. If your name is up on the waitlist and you are not currently ready or would like to wait for the next litter you may pass and we will move to the next individual. Because we only want those that are serious on our waitlist, you may pass and continue to stay on the waitlist for a total of 12 months starting from when you initially got on. If we have spoken beforehand about your desire to wait for a specific time, you will not be contacted until that time. I keep everyone as up to date as possible once you are on the waitlist. If I have an update, I will share, if you haven't heard from me, I likely don't have anything new to update. Even if you are not up on the waitlist, I will send updates just to check in. You are more than welcome to check in with us at any time.
Note for all of those interested in any of our waitlists; When we post our Upcoming Litters on our website we are doing our best to anticipate heat cycles and the planned pairings. We make NO GUARANTEE for when a litter is actually going to be born because this is not something we can truly control. Additionally, pairings can change. We breed for ourselves and the future of our program before anyone else. We always make health and temperament our priority! While our litters primarily produce puppies who will mature in the dark golden category and mature around 55-70lbs, we make no guarantee on color or size.

Payment for the waitlist can be paid for via certified check from your bank made out to Kaylynn Donahue (I do not take personal checks) or via Venmo Family and Friends. For Venmo, if you choose to send it via products and services, you will be required to account for the fees charged. If you plan to mail a certified check, a tracking number must be provided. Your spot on the waitlist will not be held until payment is received.

Step 3 -Deposit after Puppies are born
After puppies are born and we know exact numbers and genders, we will reach out to those on our waitlist to get puppies spoken for. At that point, we will require a nonrefundable deposit amount of $500 be paid to hold your spot on the litter. If you were already on the waitlist, your $100 waitlist fee does go towards the $500. If you were not on the waitlist, then you will be expected to pay the full $500 at that time. Your spot will not be held until we receive this nonrefundable deposit. This nonrefundable deposit lets us know that you are seriously interested in one of our puppies and neither of us are wasting each others time.

Step 4- Puppy picks
We reserve the right to first pick of all of our litters, regardless if we put ourselves down on the list or not. Around week 6, we do an informal temperament test and I will have a full description and photos of each puppy up on our website on the litter's page to help you get to know each of them a bit better. We will have a discussion on which puppy I was thinking for you and go from there. I pick the puppy that I think fits best with each family. Picks will be finalized by the day that puppies turn 7 weeks of age. By picking by 7 weeks, this allows us to get to know their developing personalities a little more to figure out which puppy will be the right pick for you and still gives us time to find any remaining puppies forever homes if necessary before they are ready to go at 8 weeks.
Step 5- Visiting and weekly updates
You are welcome to come to our home on the day you pick up your puppy. If we have the parents of the litter at our home, we will have them available for you to meet if you wish to do so. Due to safety precautions for our family and our puppies/dogs as well as for biosecurity reasons, we do not allow visitors outside of coming to pick your puppy up on the day that it is ready to go. After puppies are born we will begin sending out updates, suggested checklist items to prepare for your puppy, and reminders. We will post various pictures/videos and updates throughout the weeks on our Facebook page and website. If you have Facebook, follow our page by clicking the link on our home page on this website!

Once puppies are born and we figure out our own schedules, we will schedule times for vet visit day/go home day early on. We will schedule a time for puppies to be picked up around 8 weeks of age, typically on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday as that typically works best for us and our other weekly day to day happenings.
Step 6 -Puppies go home and payment balance is due!
A schedule will be made early on after puppies are born when they can begin going to their new homes. This is typically around the day they turn 8 weeks old and after they have had their vet visit for their wellness checks. For the sake of our schedule since we are working with 8-12 other individuals, we do ask that you try to make the day(s) we have set aside work. If they do not, we will find a day that does work best for both of us. You will have plenty of notice to the day of their vet visit and day of pickup to make a plan. We do start charging $20 a day when the puppies turn 8 weeks old if they are still here as we will begin one on one training at this point. If you are interested in your puppy staying longer for training take a look at our Puppy Training Program page.
You will be aware of what the price of your puppy is going to be before you even put your nonrefundable deposit down. I do not allow puppies to leave without being paid in full and I expect them to be paid in full by the time they are ready to leave at 8 weeks of age. If you would like to send payments before your puppy is 8 weeks old and ready to leave, that is fine and I will leave it up to you to decide how often and how much you would like to send. Your puppy just needs to be paid for in full by the time it is ready to leave.
If you are picking up your puppy in person, your final balance can be paid for in cash in person when you pickup or via Venmo Family and Friends (sent at least 24hrs prior to pickup to avoid day of technical difficulties). If you plan to pay via Venmo, if you choose to send it via products and services, you will be required to account for the fees charged. If your puppy is leaving on a transport, you can pay for final balance via Venmo Family and Friends or via certified check from your bank made out to Kaylynn Donahue. If you plan to pay via a certified check, a tracking number must be provided. If your puppy is leaving on transport, your final balance needs to received at least 72 hours before your puppy leaves my home.

On the day of pickup we will be doing the following;
1. Activating the 30 days of free insurance
2. Going through Folder that includes vet record, microchip record, current feeding schedule, etc.
3. Enrolling the microchip with your information. The microchip itself has been implanted and paid for by me, there is no additional cost to you.
4. Registering your puppy with AKC online. Please be prepared with a registered name and a credit or debit card to pay. (Cost $37.99) - Registering your puppy with AKC is OPTIONAL

Please bring with you on the day of pickup;
1. Final payment in the form of cash if you have not sent final payment yet.
2. Credit or debit card for AKC Registration if you plan to do it. (optional).
* Have a Registered Name prepared for your puppy if you plan to AKC register
3. Crate or warm lap for your puppy to ride home. Some people prefer to let their puppy sit on their lap for the ride home as well but the safer option is for your puppy to ride in a crate.
4. Food/Water and bowls to let your puppy have a snack or drink during the trip. We typically keep food to a minimum on travel day to avoid car sickness but if you are traveling a longer distance this may be necessary.
I will potty your puppy before you get here and I recommend to drive as far as your puppy will sleep on the way home. Your puppy pack will include leash, collar, homemade blanket (smells like mama), toys, treats, other fun goodies and information packets. It will be your responsibility to purchase food, supplements, and other items for your puppy prior to bringing him/her home. Take a look at our Puppy Checklist to help you prepare!
Again, it is IMPORTANT that you keep in mind that these puppies are not fully vaccinated and are very susceptible to parvo/distemper/ kennel cough, other diseases, all of which are easily spread. PLEASE make sure on the day of pickup you wear clean clothes (including your shoes) and avoid ALL places where dog traffic is higher and there potentially could have been unvaccinated dogs; Vet Office, Dog park, Pet Supply Store, Murdoch's, Home Depot, gas station, etc. We would really prefer you come straight from your house in clean clothes to us and avoid any stops along the way.
